Heart BEat
- There are two types of cells that help to regulate the heartbeat, the congucting cells and the contractile cells.
- A normal heartbeat is between 60 to 100 beats per minute
- The heart beat originates at an area of the heart known as the sinoatrial node which is located in the right atrium
- Next, the action potential moves across the atria and down to the AV node.
- Atrial contraction then occurs
- The signal then moves down the AV bundle located in the septum
- the signal then moves into the ventral walls causing the ventral contraction
- That is also why you hear the double sounding beats because it the the different contraction times of the upper and lower chambers of the heart.
